I remember this record being around the house when I was a kid. The song is about trying out for the Green Beret, making it, and then ultimately dying in combat. He sends a message back to his wife that he wants his kid to have his silver wings.SORRY. FILES HAVE BEEN REMOVED.
Sadler had an odd and unhappy life after his only hit. he left the Army, wrote a series of sword and sorcery novels, served as a emrcenary, and finally ended up committing suicide.
