Just curious, is there a reason why all the tracks weren't posted? (Are the others available on CD?)
ReplyDeleteNow we're talking. This is one of my all-time favourites. I found a vinyl copy after searching for some time, and then RCA Canada put it out on CD, along with Wilf Carter's Christmas in Canada (which is a lot more commonplace).
ReplyDeleteI'm especially fond of Hank Snow, since I hail from his home province, and even visited his museum a few weeks ago (display items include his 1950 Cadillac, a Nudie suit, and his toupee!). There's an awesome Hank Snow Christmas e.p., one in a series from RCA that's got a round cover, shaped like an ornament, complete with a string so you can hang it from the tree!
Only partial albums will be posted to save time from now on. If someone really wants the entire album I'll post it. Just kind of busy with the little one these days.

ReplyDeleteI checked Amazon.ca, and it seems that the CD of the Hank Snow Christmas album is sadly out of print (although a seller has it for $30). Same goes for Wilf Carter's great Christmas In Canada.

ReplyDeleteHank is wearing his Hudson Bay jacket. It was a style of striping that the Bay used on all kinds of things for a couple of hundred years before the chain went under just a few years ago. The Bay started as a fur trading establishment way, way back.
