Stop in, look around, have a drink and crank some tunes. I'll be posting some songs ripped from records, some out of print and hard to find stuff, some songs by artists you should be listening to, and a few mixes here and there.

Dean & Jerry - Aybody know about this?

I found cover art for a Dean Martin & Jerry Lewis DVD collection coming out June 13 but there is no other info. I did a few searches and find nothing on this. I'm really excited because these movies are long overdue for their DVD debut. I hope Hollywood Or Bust, Pardners, Artists & Models, Your're Never Too Young or Living It Up are included. Awesome movies. I'm guessing because it's from Paramount, it won't be another rehashing of their tv show.

#54 - The House With The Bamboo Door

Wow! This guy cooks. I have to admit that I'm on a kick where I really dig the crazy organ sounds from the 60's. Here is Earl Grant. I first heard him on a lounge cd that is now out of print. I want to find more records of his but all I seem to find are greatest hits.

Tikki Tikki Tembo

This was probably the first record that I listened to over and over as a kid so I was pretty floored to come across it in a clearance bin at a thrift store. Listening to it now I really don't hear anything that would make me want to listen to it again, but it did bring me back... Any one else remember this one? It's the story of a kid falling into a well in China and his name was too long for his brother to say when he was out of breath after running for help.

Hawaiian Eye Soundtrack

Last weekend here in Minnesota was in the 90's and we usually don't see a whole lot of those each summer. In honor of our tropical weather, here is the Hawaiian Eye TV Soundtrack from 1960. Here is the theme and two songs from stars from the show - Connie Stevens and Poncie Ponce. Robert Conrad was also on the show. I said in a previous post that I'll buy any record with a fez on it, well that also goes for tikis.

Good Night Mrs. Calabash

Here is a great song I found on a record of various artists called Those Memory Years, Volume 2. It's Jimmy Durante singing Inka Dinka Doo.

Welcome Summer

Because Memorial Weekend signifies the kick-off of summer, I'm posting one of my favorite album covers ever. Water skiing and playing his organ at the same time. Lenny Dee has some of the wackiest music out there and I love it. Happy summer.

With A Great Big Noise Like Thunder

If you are a fan of vintage children's records, download this one. It is awesome. A Children's Introduction To Outer Space featuring The Satellite Singers on Golden Records from 1956. A lot of effort went into this record. At times it sounds like the people who sang some Hanna Barbera themes. I usually just pick some of the best songs to rip, but I had to rip this whole record.

Sorry For The Slowdown

Lately the downloads have been slower due to increased traffic. Sorry about that. If it's slow, try a little later and it should be faster.

Pee-Wee Herman Had A Farm

Here I picked some songs from the Big Top Pee-Wee Soundtrack that have Pee-Wee singing on them. This movie is totally underrated. It's great. Check out The Girl On The Flying Trapeze. That's Pee-Wee doing a night club act that turned out to only be a dream. I want another Pee-Wee movie!

DANNY ELFMAN :: MAIN TITLE

PEE-WEE HWEMAN :: THE GIRL ON THE FLYING TRAPEZE

Persuasive Percussion 1966

Here are two really good songs from a record called Persuasive Percussion 1966. My guess is that these are studio musicians hired to make a record that really utilized the new hi-fi sound of 1966 record players. What they made was some really good swanky songs.

Who's The Life Of Every Party? Tammy The Ideal Teen

Tammy was a doll that was sold at Montgomery Wards. Here are some ultra-bubblegum pop songs from the accompanying record that you could buy. Weird-ish.

The Flash & Aquaman :: Power Records

Here are some more Power Record stories for you. Today it's The Flash and Aquaman. B-List superheros at their best. This is ripped from a 7" record and I apologize for The Flash mp3. At the very end of the story there is a skip. Not due to a scratch, this happens on my turntable when a 7" 33 1/3 record runs long...

Cook's Tour Of High Fidelity

This one is bizarre! The cover is definitely better than the contents here. Side one is mostly talking about high fidelity and such. Side two, where these mp3s are from, is a continuation of sounds and moods to make your own soap opera. This record was never played before and it still sounds like shit...

Staying with the spy theme a little longer. Music To Read James Bond By. A compilation from the Sean Connery Bond era. The two songs posted here are different versions from the movies.

Dick Hyman :: The Man From O.R.G.A.N.

Here is some great spy music rethought with crazy organs from the time when everyone was putting out spy music. I don't know much about Dick Hyman but I feel dirty saying his name.
