Stop in, look around, have a drink and crank some tunes. I'll be posting some songs ripped from records, some out of print and hard to find stuff, some songs by artists you should be listening to, and a few mixes here and there.

Lon Chaney Jr. :: Spider Baby Theme

Today we have a totally wacky one from the ever dopey Lon Chaney Jr. He really sounds like a whack job on this one. Do you think he has to try for that? I can't really think of him any other way than like Lennie from Of Mice And Men. Here he sings the opening song to Spider Baby. I labeled it as the theme, but I'm not sure that it is. This was taken from the VHS and is perfect for Halloween.

Bob Hope :: Halloween

I really wanted to keep posting these holidays throughout the year, but I both forgot and was too lazy. Starting back up again I have Bob Hope talking about Halloween. You can go back to last December's posts if you want to hear Christmas.

Ted Cassidy :: The Lurch

We at Check The Cool Wax love when TV personalities record music! Here we have Ted Cassidy, AKA Lurch, not so much singing, but grumbling over a bubbly sixties pop song. It's most excellent. It's not all that monstery for Halloween, but it is our favorite butler. Enjoy. I haven't found this 45 yet! This is from an out of print CD.

Never Send A Monster To Do The Work Of An Evil Scientist

Finally we have three from Water Water Every Hare in our Bugs Bunny Halloween Posts.

If You Only Had A Living Brain

An Interesting Monster

Never Send A Monster To Do The Work Of An Evil Scientist

And as a bonus, I have the opening to Bugs Bunny's Howl-Oween Special. This special is generally considered to be pretty bad. It's clips from the classic cartoons slapped together to make an hour special with newer and inferior animation added to make a story... I thought this opening was pretty good and Halloweeny though.

We're Ready To Believe You!

Hey guys. How's it going? Just because I don't post much anymore, doesn't mean I don't love you. I just don't have the time anymore to keep up with all the posting. I still think of things all the time that I would like to share. I figured I would post some sound bytes for Halloween. I'm starting off with a clip from Ghostbusters. Put these in your Halloween mix and enjoy...

Record Store Days: From Vinyl to Digital and Back Again

This is a really fun book that will bring back a lot of memories. Remember combing through record stores to find new music? Remember hearing a song on the radio and driving all over trying to find the 45? Kids now days... Feh! They don't know what it's like to not have every song ever created only moments away from their keyboard.

From Amazon...

“There’s nothing as glamorous as a record store.” – Paul McCartney

In this era of digital downloads, the small, indie record shop might sound like an anachronism. But, in fact, record stores served as community centers, information exchanges, clubs, art galleries, and launching pads for numerous bands and record labels.Record Store Days takes a long, loving look back at the retail refuges that enthralled at least three generations of music lovers, providing a glimpse into the special alchemy that makes a great record store. Written and compiled by two record store veterans, this lively and nostalgic anthology includes photographs and reminiscences from musicians, music industry executives, former record store clerks, and, of course, avid fans.
