Tikki Tikki Tembo

This was probably the first record that I listened to over and over as a kid so I was pretty floored to come across it in a clearance bin at a thrift store. Listening to it now I really don't hear anything that would make me want to listen to it again, but it did bring me back... Any one else remember this one? It's the story of a kid falling into a well in China and his name was too long for his brother to say when he was out of breath after running for help.

Hawaiian Eye Soundtrack

Last weekend here in Minnesota was in the 90's and we usually don't see a whole lot of those each summer. In honor of our tropical weather, here is the Hawaiian Eye TV Soundtrack from 1960. Here is the theme and two songs from stars from the show - Connie Stevens and Poncie Ponce. Robert Conrad was also on the show. I said in a previous post that I'll buy any record with a fez on it, well that also goes for tikis.

Welcome Summer

Because Memorial Weekend signifies the kick-off of summer, I'm posting one of my favorite album covers ever. Water skiing and playing his organ at the same time. Lenny Dee has some of the wackiest music out there and I love it. Happy summer.

With A Great Big Noise Like Thunder

If you are a fan of vintage children's records, download this one. It is awesome. A Children's Introduction To Outer Space featuring The Satellite Singers on Golden Records from 1956. A lot of effort went into this record. At times it sounds like the people who sang some Hanna Barbera themes. I usually just pick some of the best songs to rip, but I had to rip this whole record.

Here I picked some songs from the Big Top Pee-Wee Soundtrack that have Pee-Wee singing on them. This movie is totally underrated. It's great. Check out The Girl On The Flying Trapeze. That's Pee-Wee doing a night club act that turned out to only be a dream. I want another Pee-Wee movie!

Here are two really good songs from a record called Persuasive Percussion 1966. My guess is that these are studio musicians hired to make a record that really utilized the new hi-fi sound of 1966 record players. What they made was some really good swanky songs.
