Stop in, look around, have a drink and crank some tunes. I'll be posting some songs ripped from records, some out of print and hard to find stuff, some songs by artists you should be listening to, and a few mixes here and there.

Volume 4 Is Ready - The Munsters!!!

I have for you Volume 4 of Check The Cool Wax and it's called Famous Munsters of Songland. 63 tracks of Munster goodness. The cover is an obvious nod to the Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine for those that may not know. I've been planning this CD for a long time, and Halloween seemed like a good time to make it. It has been my favorite TV show for a long time. I still laugh out loud. Here is a collection of themes, sound bytes, TV spots, trailers and random tracks from albums. A big thank you to some of you out there that may have unknowingly donated to this mix. I have a couple of tracks on here that I've downloaded from others over the years and have no way of knowing where they came from. Enjoy everyone and Happy Halloween!

10.17.07 OK everyone. I've switched the file host to RapidShare. Tell me how this one is. I didn't realize that FileHo changed the way they do things and use an .exe installer.

10.17.07 Part 2. Switched to MediaFire.

10.17.07 Artwork now posted.

10.18.07 Fixed Part 1 - Did it work?

10.18.07 I had to break part 1 into 2 parts...

11.28.07 Download links fixed again

06.30.11 All files reposted into one zip file

FAMOUS MUNSTERS OF FILMLAND

What's this? Why do I have to use "Internet Explorer"? Why do I have to install an .exe file to download?

Sorry, think I'll pass this one... :(

K2nSF said...

I was really, really looking forward to this download. Too bad about the Internet Explorer requirement (which is weird) and the installation of an .exe (which leaves out all the Mac users). Sigh, I'll have to pass on this, too.

where's the artwork? that link isn't workin'

What happened to Ted Knight?

Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I too was looking forward to this but alas, I don't trust the IE only .exe either.

Eddie Riff said...

Well, I'd have to agree that friendly files isn't very friendly. I used IE, scanned & installed the .exe and still couldn't get it to download. If I ask nicely, would you please try another provider? I use Mediafire on my blog shares and it doesn't seem to get any complaints. Thank you.

Add me to the list of folks who don't trust the .exe installer.

Thanks for switching back to Rapidshare. I really recommend either hyperfileshare.com or mediafire.com, both of which allow big uploads and fast downloads without the limits that rapidshare imposes on free users. Mediafire even allows two or more files to be downloaded simultaneously.

Thank you so much for this. The Munsters are by far my favorite show. This is an incredible collection, you did a great job all around and thanks for the artwork to go with it.

THANK YOU FOR BEING DIFFERENT AND USING mEDAFIRE. I AM SICK OF RAPIDSHARE. THE DOWNLOADS ARE GETTING SLOWER FROM THERE OVERWORKED SERVERS.
lOVE THE MUNSTERS. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST MIX ANYONE HAS EVER MADE.
THANKS VINCE

Hey there, I'm looking forward to hearing this and thanks for all the other fantastic shares. I'm having trouble downloading Part 1 from mediafire, could you please tell me if the rapidshare link is still available and where I might find it? Thanks, Ben.

Looks like a wonderful job. Downloaded pt.2 and your lush artwork, but no such luck with pt. 1. All files on mediafire usually work. Pt. 1 just sits there... I use a MAC and Safari, btw.

Part 1 still not downloading.

K2nSF said...

Yay! Definitely worth the wait. Thanks so much!

Anonymous said...

Thank you very much for switching the host.

By the way, downloaded part 1 several hours ago (before you reupoloaded it) and it worked fine.

Bye.

thank you so much for the amazing compilation. i've owned the complete series of the munsters on dvd for a while & the "munsters at home" lp. i'm so glad to have all these marvelous tracks on my computer now!

i downloaded everything into itunes and organized it according to the track listings in the artwork, however, i don't know what bumper music goes with what season. this is where my anal retentaveness kicks in & i just really wanted to put the appropriate track listing with the bumper music.

thanks

I gotta say, this is a FANTASTIC piece of work. I bet it took quite a while to put this together? The Munsters along with "The Addams Family", Bewitched" & "I Dream Of Jeannie" are some of my all time favorite shows. I must have missed Volumes 1-3 somehow 'cos I sure would have snatched those as well. How do you do all the artwork and music & stuff 'cos this looks and sounds so professional? How ever you do it, keep up the great work & thanks. P.S. The uploads worked good for me.

To quote a phrase from a TV beer commercial...

"BRILLIANT!"

Downloads working fine now! You've done a FANTASTIC job on this set...Thanks for all the hard work! This set will be appreciated for a long time to come!

Thanks for this great compilation! But can anyone tell me how to get the artwork to print in the proper dimensions for a CD jewel case? I've never been able to do this successfully for creations such as this. Thanks!

Dave said...

phillyradiogeek,

I alwasy find that 800 X 800 is about the right size. But to get it to print that way you need to have something that will print in 100%. I use my wife's Hallmark Greeting card program to print mine because you can set the window at 100%, and measure right on the monitor screen with a ruler to make sure it fits.

Do you plan on moving Vol 4 to Rapidshare? Sounded like it, but the links are all Mediafire, which don't work so gooood!

PART 1A leads to a "page not found"

UniversalHorror said...

The BESt way to print a CD or jewel case cover is to simply use the free program CoverXP...it has many different templates for audio CD discs and DVD's, as well as various types of jewel cases, DVD keep cases, etc. You simply load the image you have or create into the program and it AUTOMATICALLY sizes it to fit the jewel case or slim case once it's printed and you cut it out....you can therefore have a very LARGE image so when it prints down it will look really good and sharp.

http://www.coverxp.com/main.asp

I use it for ALL my covers, either CD or DVD.

UniversalHorror said...

I can't get Part 1a of this to download....Why did you split Part 1 into two parts?

Please re-up or recombine Part 1 into a single file. This just won't download. I've tried several times so far since this morning, and it isn't downloading.

UniversalHorror said...

Never mind....it's working now. Must have been a bad time of day to download it.

Anonymous said...

Hello all!

swac said...

Doesn't work for me neither. Dang.

Anonymous said...

Please write anything else!

swac said...

Okay, got the files (downloading after 1 a.m. works a lot better), but the first three tracks are corrupted. Let's try that again...maybe I'll just have to use my own copy of the theme song...

(Can't wait to finish this and put the package together!)

swac said...

Whoa...Nero doesn't recognize half the tracks that did download.

Back to the old drawing board...

Anonymous said...

Been trying for a couple of days now. Mediafire doesn't seem to be able to serve up 1a (it generally times out). The other files downloaded easily and quickly.

swac said...

Same here (and I was trying at 5 a.m.).

swac said...

Hmm...doesn't work on my computer at work either.

Hello Brainwerk. Sorry to place this message here in the comments, but I couldn't find an email address for you. I've been a fan of Check The Cool Wax for a year now, and now I've started my own blog. It's not a music sharing blog, but I hope you find it fun nonetheless. It's called Me and You and a Blog Named Boo, and you can find it here:

http://meandyouandablognamedboo.blogspot.com

I've included Cool Wax in my favorite links section. I welcome constructive criticism, as I'm new at this. I hope you like it!

These links don't work

Thanks for all your great posts. Would you mind reposting your Rankin/Bass music shares?

Thanks. I can't wait to see what's for X-mas.

So far only 1b works. The other files time out. 1b is great though! Thanks in advance for whenever I'm able to get the rest.

Great blog!

Hey, love all the series so far; and am REALLY excited over this one. But, MediaFire isnt' connecting and it's not allowing me to download it. Shame, I've always loved The Munsters; and am looking forward to hearing it.
I'm in Minneapolis, too; let's do coffee or a beer some time!

Fantastic compilation! Had a blast listening to it all many times over. If you don't mind, I'd like to link to your entry from my Fred Gwynne site some time in the near future.

Not sure if it's still your thing, but as of noon 11-8-07, there were like 20-30 LENNY DEE lp's at Savers on Central in Columbia Hgts.

Wondering if you will be re-sharing any of your Christmas LPs this season? Thanks.
