Out of town until next Friday on vacation. Have a good 4th everyone.

Here is something I didn't know a year ago. I'm a big Johnny Cash fan. Who isn't. And I have lots of his cds and records. Johnny did a song called The General Lee for The Dukes Of Hazzard record. The theme song by Waylon isn't on this record (maybe there was a legal reason) so they called Johnny to have a heavy hitter on the record. There are a couple of other OK songs, but not many.
Everybody loves spy-related music right? Here are four selections from Billy Strange doing three spy songs and Theme From The Munsters because everybody also loves them.
With Superman fever sweeping the nation, I'd like to post the only Superman song I have. It's by Ray Martin and His Orchestra. There is another Batman Theme too.
There were no shortages for Batman Theme covers in the 1960's. Here is one by The Dynamic Batmen. Sorry about the quality here. I almost passed on this record because it was so beat up but this cover was just too compelling. I thought I may never find it again.
I'd like to kick off summer and post the songs from Beach Blanket Bingo. What says summer more than Frankie and Annette? Nothing. I just watched this movie again and forgot how funny Paul Lynde is in here. Don Rickles also puts in a good showing but what was up with putting in a 75+ year old Buster Keaton? These are not off of a record, they are from the DVD. I looked for song names online and it says there is an Annette song called "I'll Never Change Him" but I didn't see it. I must have been making a sandwich at the time. If you know where it is in the movie, leave a comment. I'm going to try and post one beach movie soundtrack a week.

BEACH BLANKET BINGO TRAILER
This could be the quintessential lounge song. Could definitely be the chase scene music for Pee-Wee Visits China. Cover was gold foil so I couldn't get a real good shot of it.
I'm guessing this one was designed to dupe people who wern't paying close attention, probably parents and grandparents. I'm not even convinces they are English at all. Give them a listen and you will here some sour notes here and there. Below are the four Beatles songs on the record.
This man is a genius. Very few people will agree but in my mind he is. He can take any song and make it his own. I really wish I could have seen him play live. I picked this double album up for only 50 cents. If you download only one song from this blog, download A Taste of Honey.

More Classic TV heros here. I've never been a fan of Jim Nabors operatic singing, but if he sings like Gomer, I'm so there. Here are six cuts from Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C. Is it odd that I like this album so much?
Here is a cool, spyish type song from the king of soundtracks, Lalo Schifrin. I'm sure all of the things on the album cover mean something but I'm not smart enough to figure them out...
One of the best tv shows ever. 60's spy songs, shows and movies are tops in my book. Don Adams cut this Get Smart with clips from the show and some new skits recorded just for this record. I read that DVDs are on the way too.
Sorry. I really know nothing about Charlie Barnet other than he has at least one kick-ass record cover. That's why I picked this one up anyway and it turned out to be pretty good.
Wow! My first request. Here are both sides of Frank Gorshin's The Riddler 45. Side A is The Riddler and Side B is Never Let Here Go.
FRANK GORSHIN :: THE RIDDLER
FRANK GORSHIN :: NEVER LET HER GO

THE WONDERLAND DISCO BAND :: WONDER WOMAN DISCO (AMERICAN VERSION)
Hi everyone. I'd really like to say THANKS for all of the great comments and support I've been getting lately. I knew there were a bunch of people out there who love music that's not always commercially available and it's really fun to be a part of a community like this. I started this to just post some songs for friends and didn't really expect anyone else to find this. That is why you will only see a few selections off of certain records. Check The Cool Wax was basically started by my brother Bill and I talking about records and great older songs aren't available on cd.
What's funnier than a German WWII prison camp? How about a Hogan's Heroes record without Hogan. Here's the cast of Hogan's Heroes (Robert Clary, Richard Dawson, Ivan Dixon and Larry Hovis) with out Bob Crane. Not sure if there was a falling out there or what. Bob Crane actually put out his own record of tv themes and stuff so maybe he was busy doing that.
Here we go. The mere fact that you are reading this means you are a fan of odd music, and NOTHING is odder than this. It's three songs from Mrs. Miller's Greatest Hits. Picture your grandma singing pop hits of the 60's. I want to know if this was ever legitimate or has it always been a joke. Get ready to be amazed as Elva Miller sings and whistles her way into your heart.

Here is the front and back of Record One of William Shatner "Live". Uff-da. This is Shatner talking in front of a crowd for a whole double album! No singing (which I love) just talking. I love Shatner but come on. Does he have this much to say? If you can make it through all of this and want to hear more. Leave a comment and I'll rip the second album. Big thanks to Locutus for letting me rip this. He has also borrowed me a bunch of different Star Trek albums that will be posted sporadically.
Here are 2 live songs from Kay Stevens from the Kay Stevens In Parson (At The Copa). She sounds like a real party girl.
Follow this link to a page to make a vintage radio ipod. Pretty cool.
