Stop in, look around, have a drink and crank some tunes. I'll be posting some songs ripped from records, some out of print and hard to find stuff, some songs by artists you should be listening to, and a few mixes here and there.

30 Years Ago Today

Star Wars opened on this day in 1977 changing the lives of millions of kids, myself included. As we all know, it opened pretty quietly to just around 32 theaters and gradually grew through the year and peaking in 1978. After badgering and badgering my parents, I finally got to see it. Not exactly sure of the date. This was obviously before cable, internet, and all that jazz. The only real thing I had to cling to was my Star Wars cards. I looked at these pictures for hours. They totally blew my mind. I look at the set over at bubblegum-cards.com and it really brings me back to the feelings they gave me way back when. It really brings back some fond memories. After looking at these, I remember why I love this movie, and the whole Original Trilogy, so much. I seem to forget this due to the recent movies and craziness from Lucas. The whole Star Wars brand now seems to be spinning out of control in every direction and I don't think I could keep up even if I wanted to. That being said, I still have to really give George Lucas some props and say Thanks George for making the best movie ever!

Look around the site here and you will find some classic Star Wars records.

I still have all of those cards from the original trilogy, they're not in "mint" condition, but they sure do bring back memories. I've been posting some Star Wars memories on my blog if anyone wants to take a look.

I have several sets of the original Star Wars cards. I think that there was 5 sets for the first movie. Being a collecter I still have in the original box (that holds about 3 sets) unopened and of course with the bubble gum. Vince

I still have some of these cards somewhere, and I still love 'em. I always think of this particular card first now though:

I remember when I first heard of the film . I was watching "Good Morning America" and Rona Barrett was giving her daily dish of the gossip of the day. She mentions "Star Wars" and what a great movie it is. Later that day I'm at the airport waiting to fly my cousins house. At the bookstore I spot "Star Wars" and buy it. I never read it until after I see the film, but my Aunt reads it and says what a great story it was!

Did you see the Family Guy Star Wars episode? Like the show or not, they did a great, nearly scene to scene parody of the original. Seth McFarland is obviously a big fan.
